EDICS will be moving
From 1st January 2011, EDICS administation will be moving to new premises close to the centre of Epsom. Our new headquarters will be at Novellus Court, 61 South Street / Epsom / KT18 7PX. The location of clinical services remains unchanged.

| Patient Choice |

| EDICS enables patients to choose specific services if they so wish. At the initial consultation with their GP, patients will be offered this option. Otherwise, the GP will normally enlist the help of the triage team who will assess which service would be most appropriate, most locally available and most rapidly accessible. Patients will then be sent an appointment directly either for a community or hospital clinic. |

The EDICS method is compliant with Choose and Book - the electronic booking system used by the NHS.
When GPs wish to refer patients to hospitals, they no longer use paper. Instead the letter is written on a word processor, relevant data is attached, and then the combination is despatched electronically to the hospital. This saves time and enables the NHS to keep track of the thousands of referrals which are made every day.
The list of available services on the Choose and Book system can also be used by patients to see what services are available and what waiting times are likely for each. Patients have a choice of many hospitals in the UK and all Foundation Trusts.
Patients referred via Choose and Book will be contacted directly on their preferred telephone number by the booking service who will offer a choice of the locally available appointment times.
